The Dholera Special Investment Region Development Authority (DSIRDA) has the responsibility of planning and development of DSIR and will encircle the role of administering government land in DSIR. An SPV called Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL) has been created between the Central Government (DMICDC Trust) and the State Authorities (DSIRDA) of Gujarat to implement the job. Spanning approximately 920 sq kilometres, encompassing 22 cities of the Dholera Taluka at the District of Ahmedabad, is envisaged to become bigger than the town of Ahmedabad. It is strategically located between the industrial cities of Ahmedabad, Baroda, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.

Dholera Industrial City will have its own self-sustaining eco-system consisting of economic drivers through industrialisation, utility & logistic infrastructure, Social Infrastructure including education, health care and other public conveniences. DMICDC, with assistance from the Government of Gujarat, intends to create a socially balanced new-age town with world-class infrastructure and also greatest quality-of-life standards with sustainability in the urban type including a sustainable urban transportation system in and mobile/efficient regional transport with neighboring cities and the rest of the country.

It’ll be connected with Ahmedabad with a 6-lane access controlled expressway & MRTS (Metro Rail) in a single shared corridor providing easy connectivity & Rail-Road transition as an effective means of transport between the 2 cities. An international airport is being built to the North-East of DSIR via an SPV Named Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL). The airport has received Environmental & Site clearance.
